Can listening help us to be mindful of what is happening in the present moment? Can we listen in an open, curious, non-judgmental way? Can we create sounds and music together in that same inclusive way and without judging?
In this series of sessions we explore and strengthen our capacity to listen – to ourselves, to each other, to our body and creative impulses, and to the sounds around us. There will be space to relax and be playful, to become grounded and present. Susanne and Joe guide the sessions with songs and meditations, creative exercises and reflections. Feel free to actively engage as much or as little as your energy levels allow – if you’d rather just sit back, relax and listen, that’s welcome, too!
Bring whatever instruments you have, including drums, shakers and small percussion of any kind.

Our vision for the monthly Mindfulness & Music sessions is to over time build a sangha/community around the healing and nourishing experiences of mindfulness, creativity, music-making, deep listening, relaxation and togetherness.
SUSANNE OLBRICH is a pianist, music educator and mindfulness teacher. She discovered mindfulness practice in 1996 with Thich Nhat Hanh at Plum Village and became a Dharma teacher in 2016. Susanne loves sounds and silence and offers workshops, courses, retreats and 1-to-1 work.
JOE HOLTAWAY is a singer song writer and workshop leader. His songs and playing are inspired by a folk music upbringing and involvements in peace and social justice movements. For many years he has been involved with education as a group singing facilitator.
