“To love is above all to be there. But being there is not an easy thing. Some training is necessary, some practice.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
During this course we will study Thich Nhat Hanh’s book “True Love” with Dharma Teachers Teri West and Vari McLuskie, and enjoy practising and sharing together.
At this time of fear and uncertainty, mindfully awakening our heart and developing our understanding and love can be supportive for us all.
Key topics include:
- The Four Mantras of True Love
- Caring for our pain and restoring peace within
- Deep Listening and Loving Speech
- Getting rid of concepts, non-discrimination and non-fear
Sessions will include a time of practice, a reading, short reflections from our Dharma Teachers and time to share in small groups or to practice self-reflection. We will also offer a session for questions and answers. We will use meditations to help us look deeply and we encourage you to use these meditations between the sessions, if possible.
This course is most relevant to practitioners who understand the basics of Plum Village mindfulness practice (for example have attended the ‘Be Calm Be Happy’ course) and who have a regular practice.
This course is offered on a Dana basis. Our teachers do not receive any payments for preparing for and offering the course. At the end of the course you are invited to practise Dana (generosity) by voluntarily offering an amount appropriate to your financial means that will support our teachers to continue to offer the teachings freely.
This allows the cycle of generosity to flourish.
“True Love” is the small book we will be using throughout this course. It can be purchased from our Book Service. If you would like to buy a copy please email Ian Parker on: bookservice@plumvillage.uk to tell Ian your address and how you’d like to pay (by card, bank transfer or cheque).
